Igor Volsky, Deputy Director of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, spent much of yesterday calling out our lawmakers who claim to have thoughts and prayers for the Orlando victims but accepted money from the NRA. Ted Cruz’s tweet may have been the most hypocritical of all.
In my personal walk the worst part of this is that I feel nothing. Columbine. Blacksburg. Newtown. Aurora. I have met so many people, and none of them were bad. Yet it is now commonplace that someone has so much hatred in their heart that they want to kill as many people as they can that tragedy feels expected. Moreover, people we choose to make decisions for us continue to protect the rights of the most troubled people to cause the most harm. I don’t have all the answers but I hope at some point before more blood is spilled we can take a fresh look at what is really happening and resolve to do better.
